Leave a Legacy
A gift that lasts
beyond a lifetime.
A gift in your will to Seeway Trust costs nothing today, but it helps rescue children from slavery, poverty, and abandonment for generations to come.
Your lasting impact
Why leave a gift to Seeway Trust?
For almost 30 years, Seeway Trust has rescued children from slavery on Lake Volta, freed girls from Trokosi shrine captivity, fed children in war-torn Ukraine, and given hundreds of vulnerable children a home, an education, and hope.
A gift in your will helps ensure that this work continues long after we are gone. Every pound goes directly to the front line — no trustee or founder is paid — so your legacy will be used where it is needed most: rescuing children and restoring hope.
£10,000
could fund the rescue and full-year care of a child freed from slavery
£50,000
could build a family living unit on our new ten-acre site in Ghana, giving rescued children a permanent home
A share of your estate
could help complete the new Seeway Academy campus, educating hundreds of children for decades
Any gift, large or small
makes a lasting difference. £10 feeds a child in Ukraine for a month. A legacy gift means that support continues.
How it works
How to leave a gift in your will
Decide what kind of gift
Residuary gift
A share (percentage) of your estate after other gifts and costs are covered. This is the most flexible option — the gift automatically adjusts with the size of your estate.
Pecuniary gift
A fixed sum of money, e.g., £5,000.
Specific gift
A particular item such as property, shares, or valuables.
Speak to a solicitor
We strongly recommend you speak to a solicitor when writing or updating your will. They will ensure your wishes are clearly recorded and legally valid. If you already have a will, a simple codicil (amendment) can add Seeway Trust without rewriting the whole document.
Use our recommended wording
A solicitor will need the following details to include Seeway Trust in your will:
Seeway Trust
1074868 (England & Wales)
Ford House, Chawleigh, Chulmleigh, Devon, EX18 7JY
Recommended wording for your will
“I give [____% share of my residuary estate / the sum of £____ / (description of specific item)] to Seeway Trust (registered charity number 1074868) of Ford House, Chawleigh, Chulmleigh, Devon, EX18 7JY, and I declare that the receipt of an authorised officer of Seeway Trust shall be sufficient discharge to my executors.”
Already have a will?
Adding a gift to your existing will.
If you have already written your will and would like to add a gift to Seeway Trust, you can do this with a simple document called a codicil. A solicitor can help you with this quickly and inexpensively.
If you would like a free codicil form, please get in touch with us and we will send you one.
Inheritance tax
Gifts to charities in your will are exempt from inheritance tax. If you leave at least 10% of your estate to charity, the rate of inheritance tax on the rest of your estate may be reduced from 40% to 36%. Your solicitor can advise you on this.
This is not tax advice — please consult a solicitor or financial adviser for guidance specific to your circumstances.
Your privacy
Confidentiality you can trust.
We understand that leaving a gift in your will is a deeply personal decision. Any conversation you have with us about legacy giving will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
You are under no obligation to tell us you have included Seeway Trust in your will — but if you do choose to let us know, it helps us plan for the future and gives us the opportunity to thank you properly.
Seeway Trust will never pressure you. Your family and loved ones come first.
