Alfred and Carmen Birnur report on progress from Dharwar, India.

In fact the last few months it has really been a testing time for us.

We have taken a new girl into the home. She is 8 years old. Her mother is a house maid and unable to care for her. She is one of three children. The first two days she told horrible lies in the school to try and get someone to send her home.

We had to go through humiliation as teachers told us she is saying that she is not given food etc. The day after we took the girls to get new shoes and got her a pair too. After that she told the other girls she is so happy she does not want to go away at all. Such is the way of life here among the poor they are so deceived and will say or do almost anything to get for themselves irrespective of truth and integrity toward those who are caring for them.

In August we are took in a 15 year old girl. Her father brought her here and he pretended to be a servant of God. In fact he was here to apply for a job in our ministry but we all felt that something is wrong with him. Later his wife called us in private and said that he is a drunkard and beats them so badly that they have broken bones in their bodies. We felt that the Lord wanted us to take this girl as her mother petitioned God for her daughter's safety. There are now five girls in the home.

The Boy's Home (Obed's Home) is going very well. We have six boys. Most of them have HIV positive poor parents. The youngest boy is only five. His father died within the first two months of his stay with us.

We have also gone through the hardest time in our ministry so far this last month. We have been severely harassed and threatened by people who are big gang leaders and very dangerous. Everyone, children and staff, fasted and prayed and confessed their sins before the Lord as the Lord instructed us through the book of Nehemiah. After that we have not had any more attack from them. It just showed us how much the enemy hates the work we do and how important it is to have intercessors backing us in prayer.

We also received some very happy personal news from Alfred and Carmen during the summer about a very special occasion in their lives. Alfred sent us a photo of their second baby - born on the 8th of May 07 at 11.29pm. His name is called Danayal Alfred Birnur (Hebrew) - Daniel.

Naturally all of us at Seeway would like to send our
heartiest Congratulations to them.

The concept of the home is to provide a very high standard of care for the seven girls and five widows. The support concept is different too. Collectively the home will be supported on a share basis rather than individual sponsorship basis.
